Re: list of english Destreza sources and books

This is later Destreza, but does anyone have or know of (or know of anyone currently working on) a translation of Simon de Frias's 1809 treatise on the saber? " Tratado Elemental Destreza De La Sable" Or Manuel de Brea's " Destreza del Espadin, " 1805? I want to study Napoleonic ...

Re: Manual scans rundown

The Cod. Guelf. 78. 2. Aug. 2º is especially beautiful, even if only for the expressive artwork! I love so many of the facial expressions of the unarmored combatants! They're almost comical (like the man looking sad or angry when his sword is taken away; whereas the guy doing the techniques often ha...

Re: Hello/Public Apology From former ARMA DD

Aaron, I was very moved by your statement and inspired by your integrity to make it. Having also been in ARMA but not having met or trained with you before I left in 2009, I would be honored to train with THE Aaron whom I have heard so much about and seen fantastic videos of sparring. I have heard n...

Re: Archery - Fast Shooting

I'm in a city too. There are sometimes public archery ranges that you can go to (I have one that's about 15-20 minutes away, not bad), though modern archery ranges are rarely reliable for anything above 100 yards; you'd basically be target shooting. But hey, that's a good place to start and can't re...

Re: Archery - Fast Shooting

Thanks Ben! I'm part of that effort as well, though recently I've been inactive in helping its efforts. The e-mail is americanwarbow@gmail.com And there's a facebook group for anyone interested! The English Warbow society has some good stuff that should be emulated, though my dream personally is to ...

Re: Archery - Fast Shooting

The Hungarians under Kassai, while primarily focusing on horse archery as a sport (with lighter bows, and not always concerned about being made with historical materials), are also impressive for shooting quickly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yorHswhzrU It's a couple minutes in, but yeah, if you ...

Re: Longpoint 2012 - Preliminary Announcement

I'd second the idea of a ringen/abrazare tournament if it was feasible to do safely. Mats and plenty of instruction for both the practitioners and the judges would be necessary, though.

Of course, I'd be cool with either sword and buckler, messer, or rapier too.

Re: May 7th Orlando Event in the works

I hope to make it, though I fear I might not be able to spar at that time (my post surgery req's are to not spar for 6 weeks, the end of which will be May 15th). I would be interested in helping to film the event on the sidelines while freeplay's going on though if that's needed!

Re: weapon preference poll

I might be decently studied with a longsword, but there's something about fighting with a dagger/knife that's more up front and personal that I like and can't get enough of :D
