Help identifying a European(?) Saber with false edge

Postby LukaCola » Sat Aug 06, 2016 8:23 pm

I got my hands on a saber which I'm interested in restoring (needs a lot of cleaning and a hilt added) that I can't identify. I believe it's a European saber, cavalry, the scabbard is thick and heavy and the blade's balance is towards the center.

It's not a ceremonial piece and probably was designed as a weapon. But I can't tell the age or even whether it's machine tooled.

Anyway. Here's some images, if someone can make some sense of it that'd be great.
