I got my hands on a saber which I'm interested in restoring (needs a lot of cleaning and a hilt added) that I can't identify. I believe it's a European saber, cavalry, the scabbard is thick and heavy and the blade's balance is towards the center.
It's not a ceremonial piece and probably was designed as a weapon. But I can't tell the age or even whether it's machine tooled.
Anyway. Here's some images, if someone can make some sense of it that'd be great.
Historical arms and armor, as well as modern replicas and HEMA training gear (including new books and DVDS), are reviewed and discussed herein.
